Hey Y’all! I’m Julie, the mom behind Mama’s Lookbook. I began blogging back in 2010 when I was out in California “living the dream”. At the time, my blog was actually pretty successful and getting a large amount of website views per month. That was mostly thanks to one of my favorite bloggers, The Pink Peonies. You see Rachel Parcell, the girl behind Pink Peonies, did a contest where her readers could submit photo of their “go-to day look” and my photos were one of the ones she selected see it here! However, as many bloggers know, working full-time and blogging everyday is a lot of work and, eventually, I gave it up and got sucked into the corporate world.
Even though I stopped blogging, I have kept up with other bloggers and influencers in the fashion industry and have been wanting to start again ever since, but I just had these limiting beliefs in my head. Like “Everyone is blogging now, my life isn’t interesting enough, and so on.” After becoming a mom in 2016, all of those limiting beliefs went out the window. Here I was a new mom who always said “I’m not going to be that mom who let’s herself go.” Ha! Fast forward six months later.. I realized I became that girl! The reality is though- there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I am just your typical everyday mom who sports leggings and mom buns 90% of the time, gets dressed in workout clothes to lounge around the house and tired!
That brings me to where I am now. Back in August, my husband (who I met in California) received a job opportunity that brought us to Dallas, TX. I currently have an amazing opportunity working part-time for a marketing company in Digital Marketing. Since I have (a little) more time on my hands, I decided to finally pursue my dream again, but this time around I want to share comfort, casual and everyday looks for all those mama’s like me who feel or felt like they are in a rut.
My hope is for this page to inspire other moms, who feel like their in a frump, moms-to- be, or anyone trying to conceive. I want to reassure them that even though you may have on leggings and your hair in a rats nest, you can still make it look cute! 🙂 Of course, I may share pictures here and there of when I actually have my hair done with make-up on, but I want this to be real, honest and something you can all relate with!
Thanks for reading and following along!
